Garden Highlights 2024 Growing Season

0

The lessons I’ve Learned and What I’ve done so far.

Our plants were sourced from various retail stores like Lowes, Home Depot, and Giant Eagle. The quality of the plants was incredible. The peppers and tomatoes both produced an incredible harvest. Over the last couple years I have been working to improve the soil and define the garden area. The area I am working with currently is 30′ x 40′ and is fenced in. The year before without the fence the animals ate everything. We into the growing season I realized that the pumpkins had spacing requirements that I overlooked. The pumpkins took off and seemed to playing a game with me. I eventually had to extend the fenced in area to accommodate the vines. Protect the pumpkins at all costs. This year I am hoping to rototill a section about 3′ to 4′ wide and 30′ or so long for a row of melons.

Here is a list of what we harvested:

  • Tomatoes: I don’t really eat them so much but we had several types. This year we will have a focus on Roma, Cherry, Yellow Pear, and Beef Steak.
  • Peppers: Green and Jalapeno with a couple red.
  • Cucmubers
  • Yellow Squash
  • Kale
  • Eggplant
  • Onions
  • Carrots
  • Lettuce
  • Parsley
  • Broccoli
  • Pumpkins
  • Watermelons

These are some of the pictures I took through the growing season.
